How to enjoy a Tofino sunset

Enjoying a sunset has to be the most experienced pastime in the world, so I’m going to share with you the best ways to enjoy the sunsets of Tofino!

1.Sunset Surf

Whether you are in the whitewash or surfing green waves, surfing at sunset is magical. It makes the golden hour the best feeling you could ever imagine! Sunbeams bouncing off waves and watching the ocean change to silky pinks and purples, just remember to surf as well as bob around basking in the beauty. HOT TIP: Always get out before dark, and keep a landmark in sight. Check out the sandbar patio on Cox Bay afterwards for some delicious post-surf treats!

2. Beach fire with your besties

Grab some wood and bikes on us, and cycle to North Chesterman beach a few minutes away and make a fire on the beach. Don’t forget to grab a takeaway from Wildside Grill or Tacofino Van to take with you! North Chesterman beach is the prettiest beach in Tofino to catch a sunset, take a blanket and your furry best friend. HOT TIP: Bring a flashlight with you for the route home, there are no streetlights only stars to light the way. Make sure you put fires out responsibly and leave no trace.

3. Hot tub at Cedarwood Cove

Why leave the cabin when you have an amazing hot tub? Seriously the sunsets on this side of the peninsula light up Meares Island to golden tones of orange and pinks that are breathtaking. Various birds and critters sing their songs hoping to attract a mate and fill the cove with beautiful melodies. Sit back and relax and enjoy the show! HOT TIP: Grab the binoculars and bird book from the cabin and see who is out there while you roast smores on the firepit!

4. Hiking to Sunset Point

Sunset point (also known as Pettinger Point) is accessed from Cox Bay or Rosies on a low tide. A short 20-minute hike from the beach entrance and a little scramble up some rocks can feel that much closer to the sun. I like to take binoculars and get close-up to the surfers catching waves, as well as taking a hot bevvy (or bubbles), to enjoy the beautiful evening. HOT TIP: Definitely impress your date with a surprise proposal here, so take bubbles and a blanket!
